Can I make a windows operating software CD from donated computers I am trying to refurbish? No pirat

I refurbish older computers that have been donated to me. I clean them, and refurbish, add a monitor, keyboard and mouse and give the package to needy families. Can I make an operating software disc from the same machine so I can format the drive and then resetup the computer with the same operating system?

This will clean the machine, and I won't have to use pirated software. Thanks to all.

If your referring to Windows, no, it would be illegal. Have you considered Linux Mint, free from:

It comes with Open Office and Firefox, to name only a few great apps. It is the closest OS I've seen to Windows and is very easy to learn and use.

And the best part is: No malware!

Not sure if that will work, what I do know is that most PC vendors will send you restore disks for a nominal fee ($10-$20 US). The tag with CD key should be on the box. You might also want to mention what you do and see if they have any special deals (i.e. free CD's) for charities.

One set of CD's should work on more than one computer too, so you shouldn't need a new set for each PC. Of course what would be nicest is to get your hands on a set of OS cd's (not the restore ones) and used the keys off the PC case for those, that way you would just need one for each OS you deal with.
