I want to able to print from my laptop to my desktop computers printer is there any way of doing this? Is there a deivce that can do this

The only way to do this is to have wireless router that the desktop is connected to. That way if your laptop is wireless(most of them are now), you can print from the laptop to the desktop's printer with no problem. I do it all the time.

you must create a network to be able to do this. in your case it's a LAN (local area networking). you can use your desktop as a server. windows (if that's your OS) actually has a network set-up wizard... have a go on that one. this is quite complicated so don't get frustrated too easily.
Yes. enable sharing on your printer. to do this:

go into the printers folder on your desktop

then right click on the printer in question,

select sharing, give the printer a share name. click ok.

then go into the control panel, double click on the system icon, then select the computer name tab.
