Does anyone have any idea about connecting two computers?

I want to connect two computers of mine to play multiplayer games, share internet connection and share files. Anyone have any idea how to do it?

I'll tell ya what you need todo. Go out to Walmart or something. Find yourself 2 NIC's (short for "Network Interface Cards") and a CAT5 cable, also called an "Ethernet Cable." now, you have one of a few options from here. If you have a router, then the cable you need is just a regular cable called a "Straight-through." If you don't, then you need to goto somewhere like Radioshack or Office Max someplace like that and ask for a "Crossover cable." Theres a diffrence between the two cables in the way they're wired.

Ill tell you how to set it up with the crossover. After you get the NIC's installed (the installation into the computer case is pretty easy just follow the instructions that come with them), just plug each end of the crossover cable into the cards. Thats all there is to it.

Either connect both into switch using ethernet or use an ethernet crossover cable. You will need to assigned both computers IP adresses on the same subnet.

e.g. 192.168.100.2 and 192.168.100.3 using a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0
