I am a junior in high school and have started thinking about what I might want to do in the future. I really enjoy working with computers (especially designing and coding websites, and I'm taking a CAD course next year) but I also want to do something that will improve the world or the environment somehow.
what are some possible jobs that combine the two? I was thinking about engineering design to design things that will help improve the environment...any more suggestions?
What are some careers that combine working with computers and helping the environment?microsoft
I'm graduating with a bachelors in architecture and minor in ecological design form U.C. Berkeley. It focuses on everything that you are looking for. I'm very concerned with the environmental issues and wanted to study architecture so i can change the world a little bit at the time. And YES, I use a lot of autocad and other design software. I know with every fiber of my being that that is something i was meant to do. I interned wit a firm last summer and it is amazing to see something you worked on being built especially if it is environmentally friendly.
What I would suggest for you, research local architecture firms. that deal with sustainable design, call them and ask to come visit. When I was a student in high school i organized a small group of friends who were also interested in architecture and thats what we did. Many firms are very open to students and more then happy to show you around and talk about their projects. It will give you more insight if that is what you want to do.
