I have several "old" computers that I need to dispose of that are totally obsolete and I don't want to dump them into the landfill if it's not environmentally correct.
Is it environmentally correct to dispose of old computers (in working order) by putting them into the landfillvirus
Absolutely not- the lead in the solder of computer boards can leach into groundwater, and any mercury in batteries is beaucoup bad as well.
There are many used computer shops that will either accept them for recycling (and part them out in the process to pay for it) at no fee or a nominal charge for some of the monitors (these tend to be the hardest to get rid of). Call around.
Glad you thought enough to ask rather than assume. Thanks for making a difference

Go ahead!!!!
Try calling a local recycling center. We have a dead monitor that we didn't want to toss in a landfill. We called the local scrap metal recycling center in our area, and they said that they would take it for free. Now the big question is where to take all of the CFLs in a few years when they start burning out!
NO RECYCLE!!
