Why did so many people hate Apple Mac computers in the 90's?

When I was in high school in the mid-to-late 90's, most people I went to school with hated Mac computers with a passion. They were constantly saying that Macs were junk with no power. What was the reason for this? I always loved Macs and found them much more fun to use than PC's. Especially considering that most PC's of the time were clunky, VERY ugly, and had noisy, clunky hard drives. I think that since the release of Mac OS X in the 2000's there has been a newfound appreciation for Macs, but in the 90's it seemed as though everyone hated them.

The same reason so many people (including me still hates them)

- low performance pc systems (compared to the newest computers)

- overpricing

- not much software compared to windows or linux

- flat out lying in advertisements (just look at all the bullshit apple says about pc's in there mac vs pc guy commercials)

- herd mentality

- claiming they invented lots of things they didn't

- not building there own operating system (they use freebsd )

- apple deciding what hardware you should use (mouses, webcams, hell the whole computer)

- saying they don't viruses and spyware and promoting and fooling users by saying that, while it's just not true

- ...
The price tag was too high! People wanted Apple and the price was so high the only thing most could afford was windoze virus computers.
apple didnt release the code so nobody could do anything with them. You could only do what apple wanted you to do.
