Our association recently had a break-in and six really good Hewlett Packard computers were stolen. We'd really like to recover them. Is there any way this can be done?

As one user suggested.. some companies have tracking software / hardware (like I believe IBM/Lenovo systems ?).
If your company has computers with this kind of technology a lo-jac for computers then you could activate it...
The best solution (which doesn't help you after the fact) is to suggest a policy of whole disk encryption for laptops, security cables for computers and other hardware on the premises, etc... a good backup system...
Good Luck!

No
The only way possible is if you had some sort of tracking software on them and somebody connects them to the internet. A lot of the time these computer land up being sold to local pawn stores, so visit the local pawn shops and talk to the manager about the situation .... and ask them to call the police if somebody shows up with 6 machines for sale. They don't want to knowingly buy stollen goods so they may be helpful.. Good luck!
If you filed a police report, your Police Depart. might have a database that's hooked up to all the pawn shops nearby and with a matching serial number they might track them that way.
only if they havnt change the hard drive,,,,even if you wipe the hard drive,,,theres the ghost data thats still on it,,but then again you have to find who and the computers,,,
