I know television has been linked to poor concentration skills in children but what about adults? Do computers have the same or a similar effect?

When watching TV, your brain is less active than when sleeping. The computer is different because you are interacting with it. It's sort of a hyper-focus thing. Possibly more addictive.

I don't think it impairs concentration skills in the long term. But in the short term it is hard to concentrate on homework (for example) while watching tv. Also, while on the computer doing homework (for example, again) it may be hard to concentrate as there are lots of distractions on the internet and computers themselves.
