I have 2 computers with USB ports, and one printer. Could I just plug the printer into a switch, and have 2 cables from the switch, one going to each computer?
Do they make a switch so I can switch a USB device between 2 computers?internet security 2006
Yes, you can by a electronic box that's like a switching yard at a railroad station for USB ports. I think it's called a USB docking port or something like that.

yes, its called a splitter.
That sounds feasible because all you are doing there is making a small network for your printer.
You can also try using a wireless adapter for your printer, which works great if you already have a wireless network.
Just use files and printers sharing (a network sharing function) in windows.

It was hard to find a usb device as you mentioned to share.
There is probably such a device, but I can't see why most people would need it. Just attach a USB cables to the printer, and plug the other end into the computer you want to use it with. You could even get two cables--in different colors to keep it simple--and have one at each computer, switching out the printer end as needed.
