Both computers have windows xp sp2.
How can I share a dial up connection between two computers without buying a dial up router? Is it possible?computer virus
If both machines have Ethernet cards, you can connect them together with a crossover Ethernet patch cord. They'll form a two machine peer-to-peer network. On the machine with the modem, and using an account with administrator privileges, bring up the properties for the dial up connection and enable internet connection sharing. ICS will allow you to access the internet from either machine.
If you have any trouble, just look up Internet Connection Sharing in Windows Help.
Good luck.

the 2 computers must be connected someway, either by a hub, or wireless usb adapter, and internet connection sharing enabled on the host computer.

it not really possible unless your computer has something that is kind of a router but i don't think that many computer. just buy a router, you could buy on that has two to three router for about $20 maybe less.
Like 1 person suggested if both computers had Ethernet cards you could use a crossover cable and using ICS to share your connection. However, this is not practical because dial-up is already slow as it is and when you have to divide the connection speed to whatever it is that you usually connect at with dial up you're going to divide that connection between the two computers. Both computers are going to be slower than ever before and you'll just be sitting there waiting forever for it to do anything. Because of this, I wouldn't recommend this.
