If my router does not have DHCP, how can I get it working between two computers and the internet?

I have an old (released in 2000) Netgear 4-port hub (SB-104) that I want to use to network 2 computers together and a cable modem. If I connect one of the computers to the hub without the cable modem, it's unable to retrieve an IP address and says limited or no connectivity. If I connect one of the computers to the hub with the cable modem, it retrieves my ISP's IP address. I don't believe it has DHCP built into it. I've somehow managed to get it working before between the two PCs and internet, but at this point I'm stumped. Is there a way to manually configure my TCP/IP settings to get it to work?

Thats because its NOT a router, a hub/switch cant do that, you need a real router, no other ways.

This is no use to you at all. You need a router, which can isolate the packets from the 2 machines. A hub can not do this.
